BRIEF HISTORY.  Strategy Deployment, also known as hoshin planning or policy deployment,  originated in Japan in the 1960′s but is based upon the US Management by Objectives (MBO) improvement cycle.  For years, companies in other sectors including Toyota, Proctor & Gamble, and Hewlett-Packard, to name a few, have used Strategy Deployment, called the “world’s most powerful management system”, with great success.

WHAT IT IS.    Strategy Deployment is different from what most people think of as strategic planning. This process goes far beyond the typical strategic planning and is different than short-term or operational planning.  An important part of preparing to reach goals is creating breakthrough experiences.  This allows the executive team to shift beyond their current business paradigm and create a new one that embraces beneficial change.

This approach ensures that a customer-oriented vision is developed and that daily activities are linked to breakthrough strategies to ensure the organization realizes its vision.
